The Appalachian State University Robotics Club was formed in 2018. We enjoy making robotics for fun as well as competition, and watching our ideas come to life. Joining the club is a great learning experience and we require no commitment, no experience and accept all majors. Our club meets once a week, performing various activities such as project work, socializing, playing games, educational talks, and the best part is all of this is always alongside free pizza!
Already have experience or want to apply what you've learned from being apart of the club? Joining one of our four production teams looks great on your resume and we have many types of projects to work on across our Business, Mechanical, Programming and Electronics teams. Projects include work with 3D printing, modeling, graphic design, marketing, software development, web development, or anything you can come up with!
Join us as we develop a rover for the URC rover competition in Utah. Our design consists of a simple rover chassis that features rocker arms on both sides with a differential pivot to keep the rover level. The powertrain will utilize 4 brushless AC motors used in hoverboards for stable high torque 4 wheel drive with tank like torque vectoring, and can be controlled remotely by hardware programmed in C++, or autonomously with Python!
Our club has a large range of projects that require diverse skillsets, so we accept all majors and
can find projects for anyone to work on.
Just pick what you will find fun, think will be most
productive for your education, or come up with your own project to work on.
We have members
studying business, physics, computer science, design, and more!
No experience or commitment is required. The club is separate from our production teams, and your
only responsibility is to learn and have
fun at our optional weekly meetings! In fact, even
freshmen are encouraged to join as Robotics Club will be a great learning experience for you.
For those who are interested in becoming members of one of our production teams after joining the
club and gaining some experience, a
certain level of commitment will be necessary in order for
us to achieve our goal of competing in national competitions.
